My Proposal:
Proposal summary:
My proposal creates a way for positive information to be spread throughout our community. I would like to hold informational nights at different schools in Durango where experts from Mercy could come in and give accurate vaccination information.
Target audience:
Both parents and kids enrolled in Durango schools.
Rational:
On-time vaccination rates in well off areas are declining. This is because of a spread of inaccurate information. This has put a sort of stigma around vaccines being a bad thing while in reality, they are the opposite. It is important to have the public trust vaccination and the best way to do that is through education. This proposal would help spread accurate vaccination information helping to ease parent’s ideas of the topic. This would lead to higher rates of vaccination in Durango schools reducing the chance of a preventable disease outbreak.
Curriculum Outline:
December: Get in touch with Mercy and get a team of volunteers together willing to share their knowledge around vaccination.
January: Develop a presentation based upon accurate vaccination information that is informative for parents but also kid-friendly.
February-April: Take presentation to schools on planned nights parents can attend.
